自分そっくりの遠隔操作ロボット「ジェミノイド」を作ったり、演出家・平田オリザ氏と組んでロボット演劇を行ったりしている大阪大学教授の石黒浩氏が、人間と関わるロボットの研究を通して考えたこと、すなわち研究哲学を紹介した著書が『ロボットとは何か』だ。ヒューマン・ロボット・インタラクションの研究を通して、人間とはどういうものかについて著者が考えたことが書かれている。
