Tweet 日経サイエンス 2010年 04月号 [雑誌] posted with amazlet at 11.02.18 日本経済新聞出版社 Amazon.co.jp で詳細を見る 「日経サイエンス」2010年4月号 書評欄 「森山和道の読書日記」掲載 　クォークはグルーオンという粒子でやりとりされる「強い相互作用」で結びついている。1970年代に、理論物理学者ウィルチェックは「強い相互作用」が近距離では弱くなる性質「漸近的自由性」を発見し、後にノーベル物理学賞を受賞した。彼による著書 『 物質のすべては光 』 は、宇宙のありようと質量の起源についての本だ。 　素粒子物理学や宇宙論がらみの本を読むと、物質や空間の正体とは何なのかと考えずにはいられない。考えれば考えるほど分からなくなるのだ。本書によれば質量とは、クォークの色荷によるグルーオン場の擾乱と、対を為すクォークと反クォークとの間の、量子力学的なせめぎあいから生まれるものだ。そして空間は空っぽの容れ物ではなく、著者らが「グリッド」と呼ぶ実体であり、むしろ物質のほうがその一側面に過ぎない。そして我々が暮らすこの宇宙は、ある種の超伝導体のようなものなのだという。 ...

Tweet ▼ロボット系ライター仲間の 大塚実さん に誘ってもらい、同じく 石井英男さん や 梓みきおさん らと連れ立って、築地のデアゴスティーニ・ジャパンまで出かけて、「 週刊ROBOXERO（ロボゼロ） 」の創刊記念Ustream中継（「 男のロボット部 」）の野次馬に行ってきた。 ▼せっかく見せてもらったので、あとで「 NODE 」に書いとく。取りあえず言っておくと、僕自身は買いません。ただし、よく値段の話をする人がいるけど、値段だけ見るのであれば、これは他と比べると十分お手頃価格だといえる。 ▼だいたい、値段の話をする人は基本的に買わない。そして安ければ二足歩行ロボットキットが普及するかというと、現状のレベルではそんなことはないと思う。そういう話は、タカラトミーが改造したりできる自作キットではなかったものの安価で手軽な完成品の二足歩行ロボット「i-SOBOT」を出して販売し、残念ながら数がそれほどふるわず—-というよりは期待されていたほどは数が出なかったというべきか—-後が続かなかったことで、ケリがついてしまった。 ▼そういえばタカラトミーが「i-SOBOT」を出す前にもライターたちで見せてもらったんだった。 ...
