米科学誌Nature誌とScience誌は2012年1月20日、H5N1インフルエンザウイルスに関する研究を60日間停止するという声明文を掲載した。声明文は、オランダErasmus MC（メディカルセンター）のRon A. M. Fouchier氏、米Mount Sinai School of MedicineのAdolfo Garcia-Sastre氏、東京大学医科学研究所およびUniversity of Wisconsin-Madisonの河岡義裕氏ら39人が連名で発表したものだ。

▼まあ普段は会社に行ってもいいとは思う。けれど実のところ行かなくてもいい人たちもいっぱいいるわけで、そういう人は行かなくても仕事できる体制を作るのは将来の会社／社会のコストを減らす上でも必要だし、良いタイミングなんじゃないかと思うのだが。技術的にはさすがにもうできるだろう。そのほうがロバストであることも震災でよく分かったと思うのだが。
