でん粉加工と機能性食品素材の総合メーカーである松谷化学工業(兵庫県伊丹市、松谷晴世社長)は2012年3月23日、香川大学農学部の佐藤正資教授と香川大学希少糖研究センターの何森健特任教授、松谷化学研究所の希少糖(レアシュガー)研究チームの共同研究で、希少糖の一種であるD-プシコースが線虫の寿命を20%延長することを見いだしたことを発表した。この成果は、京都市で開かれている日本農芸化学会2012年度大会で佐藤教授が発表した。
