ブリヂストンは2012年8月2日、パラゴムノキに代わる新たな天然ゴム資源の1つであるグアユールの試験農場と加工技術研究施設用地を、米Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations（BATO）社が米アリゾナ州で取得したと発表した。同社は米南西部でグアユールに関する研究開発を米南西部で開始することを2012年3月に発表した。
