先週金曜日（2012年10月12日）に引き続き今週も「日経バイオテク/機能性食品メール」をお届けします。日経バイオテクONLINEアカデミック版編集長の河田孝雄です。
先週は、京都大学の山中伸弥教授がノーベル生理学・医学賞を受賞することが発表され、iPSの注目度がさらに高まりました。今週の機能性食品メールではまず、活性の高いヒト褐色脂肪細胞を、ヒトiPS細胞から高効率で分化誘導できる技術を、国立国際医療研究センター（NCGM）などの研究グループが開発したことを紹介します。
