理化学研究所の横浜研究所に2013年4月、環境資源科学研究センターが発足する予定だ。同センターのグループの1つは、植物免疫研究グループ（仮称）。まだ公表されていないが、環境資源科学研究センターは、2000年4月発足の植物科学研究センター（PSC）や、2010年4月発足のバイオマス工学研究プログラム（BMEP）が関連するようだ。

皆様こんにちは。水曜日のコラムを担当する日経バイオテク編集長の橋本宗明です。 　先日、ソニーのライフサイエンス事業の話を取材してきました。ソニーは2010年2月にフローサイトメーターとその関連試薬を開発・販売する米iCyte Mission Technology社を買収して以来、バイオ事業参入の入り口としてフローサイトメーターに照準を絞り、製品開発を進めてきました。そして、2012年6月に発表したソニー独自開発のセルソーター「SH800」に引き続き、スペクトル型セルアナライザーのハイエンド機種「SP6800」の製品化を、11月下旬に発表しました。詳しくは下の記事をご覧ください。

仙台からはやて号に乗り、東京に戻っている最中です。仙台の近郊は雪景色。しかし、気温は高くまだ春の雪のようでした。おかげで足元は水浸しです。厚労省が支援する復興プログラム東北3県医工連携医療機器開発プロジェトの一年目の成果発表会を取材して参りました。2011年の補正予算で5年間で43億円を投入するプロジェクトは、全部で14件の開発テーマが選定され、実際に動き始めました。昨夜発表された6件は多分、先行するプロジェクトであると思いますが、来年度、もしくは再来年度に医師主導治験を行うとほとんどのプロジェクトがぶち上げていました。

東京理科大学理工学部応用生物科学科の古市貞一教授（写真右）、群馬大学先端科学研究指導者育成ユニットの定方哲史テニュアトラック助教（写真左）らは、ヒト自閉症患者で見られる異常たんぱく質を発現させ、自閉症モデルマウスを作製することに成功した。2012年12月3日の週にProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences誌に発表した。
