堀川大樹さんは若きクマムシの研究者。NASAでの宇宙生物学研究を経て、現在フランスで研究中です。最近はブロガーとしても有名で、「ナショナルジオグラフィック」などにもインタビューが掲載されています。
研究者としての活動のかたわら、研究対象であるヨコヅナクマムシを元にしたゆるキャラ「クマムシさん」（ http://www.kumamushisan.net/ ）を自ら描き起こして展開するといった多才な方でもあります。
