理化学研究所基幹研究所ケミカルバイオロジー研究基盤施設の長田裕之施設長と化学情報・化合物創製チームの二村友特別研究員、化合物ライブラリー評価研究チームの川谷誠専任研究員らは、さまざまな抗がん剤をがん細胞に添加することで起きる細胞形態の変化パターンをデータベース化した「モルフォベース」を構築し、モルフォベースを活用して簡単に薬剤の作用機構を予測できる手法「モルフォベースプロファイリング」を開発した。この成果は、米Chemistry and Biology誌2012年12月20日号で発表された。
