米Amgen社は、2013年1月16日、「アラネスプ（Aranesp）」（ダルベポエチンα）を心不全患者に適用する大規模無作為化フェーズIII RED-HF試験で主要エンドポイントを達成できなかったことを明らかにした。

理化学研究所植物科学研究センター（PSC）メタボローム機能研究グループの中林亮特別研究員、斉藤和季グループディレクターらは、フーリエ変換型イオンサイクロトロン共鳴質量分析計（FTICR-MS）を導入して、硫黄を含む2次代謝物を網羅的に解析できるS-オミクスを確立した。タマネギの解析で、モノアイソトピックイオンだけから成る67個のピーク抽出、22個の組成式決定、抗炎症活性を有する6個の構造式推定を行った成果を、米化学会（ACS）のAnalytical Chemistry誌（インパクトファクター5.9）で発表する。この研究は、科学技術振興機構（JST）国際科学技術共同研究推進事業の戦略的国際共同研究プログラム（SICORP）の2011年度採択課題「メタボロミクス：低炭素社会に向けた植物特異的代謝解明に資する基盤研究推進（研究代表者：斉藤和季氏）と、戦略的国際科学技術協力推進事業（SICP）2011年度採択課題「研究代表者：山口大学の執行正義氏」、植物科学最先端研究拠点ネットワークにより行われた。
