北海道情報大学は2013年2月27日、国際フォーラム2013「食と健康in北海道」を札幌市で開催した。北海道では、2012年に札幌・江別、函館、帯広・十勝の3地域が、北海道フード・コンプレックス国際戦略総合特区の指定を受け、食産業による地域の活性化を目的とした取り組みが実施されている。
