最新の研究成果を利用した医薬品・医療機器の効果の検証や、品質と安全性の担保は、規制当局のみでは実効性のある判断を下せない場合が多い。そこで、研究者と厚生労働省が協力して、ガイドラインを作成するプロジェクトが2012年度に始まった。このプロジェクト、「革新的医薬品・医療機器・再生医療製品実用化促進事業」に参加している大学が、2013年3月29日にそれぞれの取り組みについて発表した。
