米エネルギー省（DOE）は2013年4月4日、米国内3カ所にあるBioenergy Research Centers（バイオエネルギー研究センター）に対し、さらに5年間延長して研究資金の提供を継続すると発表した。これら3つのセンターは先進的次世代バイオ燃料の開発を目指した基礎研究のブレークスルーのための革新的プログラムとして07年、DOEのOffice of Scienceによって設立された（関連記事1、関連記事2）。これら3つのセンターには、DOEのOak Ridge National Laboratory（ORNL）が率いるBioEnergy Research Center（BERC）、Wisconsin大学Madison校がMichigan州立大学とパートナーシップを組んで率いているGreat Lakes Bioenergy Research Center（GLBRC）、並びにDOEのLawrence Berkeley National Laboratory（Berkeley Lab）が率いるJoint BioEnergy Institute（JBEI）がある。

新規経口汎AKT阻害薬ARQ092が、進行固形がんに有用である可能性が明らかとなった。フェーズI試験で忍容性が確認され、抗腫瘍効果が認められた。2013年4月6日から10日までワシントンで開催されたAmerican Association for Cancer Reserach（AACR2013）で、米Georgia Cancer SpecialistsのMansoor Saleh氏によって発表された。

アニメの初放送から４１年。「ガッチャマン」が進化した。松坂演じる健は、アニメの「大鷲の健」に近い白地に青と赤のヘルメットをかぶるが、他４人は黒がベースのスーツとなった。鷲、コンドル、白鳥、燕、みみずくの通り名とスーツに描かれた鳥の目などのデザインは撤廃される。「飛ぶ」というアクションにつじつまが合うものにするため、動力源なども加味しつつ近未来的なデザインを作り上げた。佐藤監督は「鳥は忘れた」と断言した。

設定変えちゃうなら、「ガッチャマン」と名乗る必要はないような気がするんですが……。
それと、天野喜孝氏によるアニメ・ガッチャマンのデザインは、すっきりしてましたが、
男のほうもけっこう色気があるデザインだったのに対し、
こちらのほうは今ひとつ工夫がないですね。時流に乗っただけというか。
