米エネルギー省（DOE）傘下のLos Alamos National Laboratory（LANL）は2013年6月19日、LANLとDOEによって設立されたGreat Lakes Bioenergy Research Center（GLBRC）の研究者たちが結晶セルロースナノファイバーの特異的性質を分析し、効率良くセルロースバイオマスから糖類を遊離させる方法を開発したと発表した。LANLとGLBRCの研究チームはこのセルロースナノファイバーを効率良く分解することがコスト効率の良いバイオ燃料生産につながるとして、新しい化学的前処理およびデザイナー酵素を開発してきた。

先週の終末は大忙しではなかったのでしょうか？欧州でのなでしこジャパンのドイツ戦（大儀見がブンデスリーガで得点王になった理由が分かりました）、ウィンブルドンの伊達vsセレナ戦（伊達が今度はハードでやりたいと発言、2ゲームしか取れないのに懲りていない）、そしてコンフェデレーションズカップの決勝と三位決定戦（スペインの不敗神話が完膚無きまで撃ちのめされました）と、まったく夜も眠れぬ終末でした。12時間時差がある来年のブラジル・ワールドカップで不眠症となりそうな嫌な予感がいたします。
