ドイツLANXESS社と米Genomatica社は2013年6月25日、LANXESS社のドイツHamm-Uentropにある大規模生産施設でGenomatica社のプロセスで作られた20tのバイオ1,4-ブタンジオール（BDO）を使用して、バイオポリブチレン・テレフタレート（PBT）の生産キャンペーンを実施したと発表した（関連記事1）。原料として使用されたGenomatica社のBDOは、LANXESS社の要求する石油ベースBDOの品質仕様を完全に満たし、連続生産プロセスへ100％バイオBDOを直接注入することが可能であったという。
