フランスAirbus社とロシアRostec GroupのRT-Biotekhprom社は2013年8月28日、ロシアで持続可能な航空機用燃料を開発するため、共同開発契約を締結したと発表した。両社はロシアで入手可能な原料の大規模な分析を行い、飛行用の持続可能な燃料の開発、およびその商業化の促進について検討する。この画期的な合意は、International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2013の会場で署名された。

新エネルギー・産業技術総合開発機構（NEDO）と浜松医科大学、浜松ホトニクスは、2013年9月5日、新型頭部用PET診断装置と、認知機能PETイメージング用の試薬を開発したと発表した。PETによる撮像には数分から数10分程度の時間がかかるが、症状が進行した認知症の患者などでは安静が保てず、画像診断が不可能であるという問題点があった。測定中に患者が動いても検査が可能なように、新しい装置には、頭部の動きを検知してデータを補正する機能や、検出ヘッド部が患者に追従する機能を付けた。
