Elsevier社、Food and Chemical Toxicology誌からMonsanto社の組み換えトウモロコシの発がん性に関する論文  from 日経バイオテクONLINE  (2013-12-3 0:00)

オランダの出版社Elsevier社は2013年11月28日、自社発行のFood and Chemical Toxicology誌の2012年11月号に掲載されたフランスのGilles Seralini博士の研究チームによるMonsanto社の除草剤Roundup耐性トウモロコシおよびグリホサートの発がん性を報告した論文「Long term toxicity of a Roundup herbicide and a Roundup-tolerant genetically modified maize」を取り消すと発表した（関連記事）。編集責任者（Editor in-Chief）は論文を取り下げるように請求したが、Seralini博士はこれに応じなかったため取り消すことになったようだ。

カルピス発酵応用研究所は、NPO法人アレルギー支援ネットワークと共同で、通常の治療に加えてL-92乳酸菌を継続的に摂取すると、食物アレルギーを合併している乳幼児のアトピー性皮膚炎の湿疹を緩和する傾向と、皮膚の炎症マーカーが低下することを見いだした。あいち小児保健医療総合センターの伊藤浩明内科部長らの協力の下で実施された研究成果を、2013年11月28日から23日に都内で開始された第63回日本アレルギー学会秋季学術大会で、同センターアレルギー科の中田如音医師らが発表した。

先週の木曜日（2013年11月28日）は、バイオ産業の新しい記念日となると感じました。山形県鶴岡市の慶応義塾先端生命科学研究所からスピンアウト、鶴岡市で2006年に創業したベンチャー企業、スパイバーの組み換えクモ糸「QUMONOS」の工場が操業を開始したためです。実際には、愛知県豊田市の小島プレス工業が新エネルギー・産業技術総合開発気候（NEDO）の支援を受けて建設した試験工場です。月産100KgのQUMONOSを製造し、プレプレートまでの試作する能力があります。今回の工場をスパイバーはプロトタイピィングスタジオ（PS）と呼称しております。その心意気は、製品の試作までを行い、用途開発とQUMONOSの製造技術を改良することを表現したいということ。スタジオと敢えて呼ぶのは、ここでQUMONOSがいかに多様な可能性を持つ商品化を実証し、それを世界に発信しようという覚悟を現しています。
