米Amarin社は2009年7月、「Vascepa」(イコサペント酸エチル)について米食品医薬品局(FDA)とSpecial Protocol Assessment(SPA)の合意を得た。その合意内容は、Vascepaがトリグリセリド(中性脂肪)を安全かつ効果的に抑制することを臨床試験で証明できたら、適応拡大承認を与えるというものだ。
