ジナリスは、次世代シーケンサーによる実験データをまとめて管理できるソフトウエア・ハードウエア一体型システム「GenaGenomeManager（GGM）」の販売を開始したと2013年12月13日に発表した。複数のサンプルのシーケンスデータを比較したり、解析できる。同社のクラウドベースのゲノム解析サービス「GiNeS」（関連記事）と同等の解析をローカルサーバーで実施できるようにしたものだ。

米農務省（USDA）と米海軍は2013年12月11日、バイオ燃料がブレンドされた燃料を米軍の通常使用する燃料として購入することを促進するため、「Farm-to-Fleet」（農場から戦艦へ）というプログラムを立ち上げたと発表した。この発表は、ジェット・エンジン用燃料および戦艦のディーゼル燃料として国防総省（DOD）による通常の燃料国内購入にバイオ燃料ブレンドを組み入れることを表明した。海軍は先進ドロップイン・バイオ燃料が従来の燃料に10から50％ブレンドされた「JP-5」および「F-76」を購入する。USDAのCommodity Credit Corporation（CCC）がこのプログラムに資金を提供して支援する。

先週の金曜日に東京・品川で開催された日本遺伝子診療学会：遺伝子診断・検査技術推進フォーラム・公開シンポジウムは兎に角面白かった。猛烈な勢いで、わが国にも個の医療の医薬品が投入されたり、臨床開発が進んでいることが手に取るように判りました。個の医療のメールマガジンを創設したころは、三重大学登教授、エスアールエルの堤氏、共に遺伝子診療学会の理事です、と私は、個の医療など実現する訳はないという反対勢力に、変人扱いされていたものですが、世の中はがらっと変化いたしました。会場はわが国の主要な製薬企業からの参加者で埋め尽くされ、満員、しかもこの熱気は確かに、わが国にも個の医療を何とかしなくては、世界の潮流から取り残されるという危機感から発している。どの顔を真剣そのものでした。だが、会場では一企業では到底解決しえない個の医療の次の課題が浮き彫りとなりました。個の医療が個別化医療の罠にまんまと填まってしまいました。少なくとも、一企業が新薬を開発し、臨床試験を行い、申請して発売するという、新薬開発の既存のビジネスモデルを、個の医療が破壊することは、もう避けられないのです。新しい時代が始まりました。
