デンマークSantaris Pharma社とドイツのIsarna Therapeutics社は2014年1月8日、Santaris Pharma社が開発したLocked Nucleic Acid (LNA) 技術に関して提携したと発表した。Isarna Therapeutics社は、Santaris Pharma社が開発したLocked Nucleic Acid (LNA) 技術を使って、次世代のオリゴヌクレオチド製品を開発する。

米Texas大学Austin校は2014年1月8日、植物の根に生息する微視的な菌類が二酸化炭素の貯蔵と二酸化炭素の土壌から大気中への放出に重要な役割を演じていることを、同校の自然科学部統合生物学科（Department of Integrative Biology）の研究者を中心とする研究チームが見い出したと発表した。この研究はBoston大学とSmithsonian Tropical Research Instituteとの共同研究である。これら菌類の役割については、これまでグローバルな気候モデルにおいてほとんど考慮されてこなかった。

米WaferGen Bio-systems 社は、2014年１月７日、IntegenX社の次世代シーケンサーライブラリー調整ビジネスを買収すると発表した。WaferGen Bio-systems社は、同社の100％子会社であるWafergen社を通じて、次世代シーケンサーライブラリー調整に関連する機器や試薬の開発、製造、マーケティング、販売に関連するIntegenX社のプロダクトラインの資産を2014年1月6日に買収した。買収資産には「Apollo 324」や「PrepX」が含まれる。

米Biothera社は、2014年1月7日、がん免疫治療Imprime PGGの概念実証のためのフェーズII試験で好結果が得られたと発表した。治療歴の無い、進行した非小細胞肺がん（NSCLC）患者90人を登録した試験のデータは同日、米がん研究学会（AACR）-世界肺がん学会（IASLC）の合同会議で報告された。
