STAP問題で再発防止策を検討していた「研究不正再発防止のための改革委員会」（委員長は新構造材料技術研究組合の岸輝雄理事長）は2014年6月12日、「研究不正再発防止のための提言書」を発表した。STAP問題の背景には、「研究不正行為を誘発したり、研究不正行為を抑止できない組織の構造的な欠陥があった」と指摘し、理研発生・再生科学総合研究センター（CDB）の早急な解体やCDB上層部の刷新を求めた。

米Siluria Technologies社とドイツLinde Groupは2014年6月2日、天然ガスからエチレンを生産するプロセス開発で提携したと発表した。Siluria社はクリーンで豊富に存在する天然ガスから燃料や化学品の商業規模生産プロセスを開発しているパイオニア的企業で、Linde Groupは世界トップレベルのガス・エンジニアリング企業。この提携は両社が有する技術と専門的知見を組み合わせ、最適化された統合技術パッケージを確立することを主目的としている。Linde社はこの統合パッケージを既存のエチレンプラントの改造あるいは拡張、また大規模なエチレンプラントの新設に向けて石油化学工業界にライセンスしてゆく計画。
