本当は我が国が誇るべき国産第三号の抗体医薬「オプジーボ」（ニボルマブ）やとうとう米国で認可された米Mannkind社の吸入式組み換えインスリン「Afrezza」の発売、我が国で先週、官邸に送付された健康情報信託建白書の件など目白押しですが、今回は打ち止めの意味も含めてSTAP細胞論文取り下げを論じます。もう飽き飽きした読者も多いでしょうがおつきあい願います。多分、理研の小保方晴子ユニットリーダーの再現実験参加に関して、理研の研究者がTwitterで「理研の倫理観にもう耐えられない」とつぶやいたようですが、その気持ちもわからない訳ではありません。が、Twitterの威力を過小評価し、社会の混乱に輪を掛けました。研究者には研究機関を選ぶ自由があります。巨額な研究資金にピン止めされた格好で、トラブル続きの理研で研究せざるを得ない辛さも共感できますが、STAP細胞騒動の根っこには理事や研究センター長、副センター長などの管理者や理研の研究リーダー達が、自分の研究以外は理研のことに他人事である無責任さにあったと私は思っております。それが見事に表出したということです。
