米Thomson Reuters社が2014年6月に公開した「Highly Cited researchers（高被引用論文著者）」のデータベース（DB）で、大阪大学に所属する研究者の活躍が目立つ。かつて大阪大学に勤務していた研究者も含めた阪大関係者として集計すると、免疫学分野では日本機関所属研究者19人のうち少なくとも15人が阪大関係者と分かった。論文の被引用数という評価軸では日本が最も存在感がある分野である免疫学で阪大の存在が大きいことが改めて示された。また、逆に世界402人のうち日本からの選出がわずか4人だった臨床医学分野では、4人全員が阪大関係者だ。この2分野の阪大関係者のリストを、以下に掲載する（敬称略、所属組織名はDB掲載内容を掲載）。
