国立がん研究センター研究所分子細胞治療研究分野長の落谷孝広氏と同研究員の小野麻紀子氏らが、乳がんの手術後10〜20年を経過して再発する“晩期再発”に骨髄の間葉系幹細胞が分泌するエクソソームが関係しているとの研究結果をまとめ、7月１日付けでScience Signalingに発表した。早期で発見された乳がんの予後は良好だが、ほかの固形がんで治癒の目安とされる5年を超えて再発することがまれではなく、乳がん診療の大きな課題となっている。小野氏らの発見は、乳がんの晩期再発の診断や治療につながる成果だ。

スウェーデンのKarlstad空港は2014年6月26日、飛行用バイオジェット燃料を専用に貯蔵する固定されたタンク施設をヨーロッパで最初に設置した空港となったと発表した。この貯蔵施設は6月26日に正式オープンとなり、航空バイオ燃料を使用したスウェーデンで最初となる民間航空機が同日Karlstad空港から飛び立った。2015年からはKarlstad空港を出発するすべてのフライトに環境にやさしい燃料が供給される。
