米Benefuel社は2014年8月28日、子会社のマレーシアBenefuel International Holdings社とマレーシアFelda Global Ventures（FGV）社の子会社がジョイント・ベンチャーを設立したと発表した。このジョイント・ベンチャーはマレーシアKuantan Portにある年産25万tの生産能力のあるバイオディーゼル生産プラントを買収する契約を締結、Benefuel社のENSEL技術を使いこのプラントを改造する。このプラントを現在所有しているオーストラリアMission NewEnergy社の子会社であるM2 Capital社もこのジョイント・ベンチャーに参画する。2014年第4・四半期中にプラントの買収が完了する予定で、2015年後半には稼動できる見通しである。

農業・食品産業技術総合研究機構（農研機構、NARO）は2014年9月2日、「食のセミナーin丸の内タニタ食堂」を、都内の丸の内タニタ食堂（東京・千代田）で開催し、参加者定員の52人を含め60人余りが参加した。農研機構がこのようなイベントを開催するのはこれが初めて。農研機構では2014年9月から10月までの2カ月間、「食のブランドニッポンフェア2014」として、食や農業研究に関する様々なイベントを開催している。今回の第1弾に続き、食のセミナー第2弾は9月18日にトラストシティカンファレンス丸の内で、第3弾は10月23日に福岡市のエルガーラホールで開催する予定だ。
