さて、協和発酵工業が相次いで成人性T細胞白血病の治療薬「ポテリジオ」を、英国AstraZeneca社と米Pfizer社と、2014年7月30日と9月30日に相次いで共同開発契約を結び、癌免疫療法の臨床開発を展開する決断を下しました。我が国では成人性T細胞の治療薬として認可されている「ポテリジオ」が実は制御性T細胞を除去する癌免疫療法の一種であることが証明された結果です。このメールでも何度もお伝えしておりますが、成人性T細胞白血病は制御性T細胞が癌化したものであり、これに細胞障害作用を示すポテリジオは当然、抗CTLA-4抗体「Yervoy」（ipilimumab）と同様に制御性T細胞除去作用があり、その結果、癌に対する免疫を賦活することが期待できるのです。我が国で展開中の医師主導の臨床試験で、1例ですがPR（部分寛解）が報告されています。しかし、世界的にもがん免疫療法は併用一本槍の展開で、他の免疫チェックポイント阻害剤やチロシンキナーゼの阻害剤でも同様な作用のあるものとの併用、がんワクチンとの併用、体外で培養したT細胞との併用などおよそ考えられる限りの組み合わせが試されそうとしています。しかし、私にはどうもそこに大きな落とし穴があるような ...

アジア細胞治療学会（ACTO）は2014年10月1日、メディア向け会見を開催した。同学会は11月10日から12日に大阪市で、第5回年次総会を実施する。会見では、学会の下坂皓洋理事長、大会会長で東京女子医科大学先端生命科学研究所の岡野光夫教授が学会の成り立ちや年次総会の意義について説明した。また、中耳を対象とした再生医療の実用化に取り組んでいる東京慈恵会医科大学の小島博己教授がこれまでの研究成果について講演した。
