アミノアップ化学が商品化しているAHCC（活性化糖類関連化合物）の継続摂取で、ヒトパピローマウイルス（HPV）が陰性になる症例が報告された。米University of TexasヘルスサイエンスセンターHouston校のJudith Ann Smith准教授が2014年10月28日（日本時間10月29日）、米Houstonで開かれた第11回米国癌統合医療学会で発表した。

2014年度予算500億円で内閣府が2014年度に開始した戦略的イノベーション創造プログラム（SIP）の10課題の1つである「次世代農林水産業創造技術」（プログラムディレクター：西尾健・法政大学生命科学部教授）の第2回推進委員会が2014年11月4日に公開で開催され、研究開発項目の代表研究者が公表された。研究開発計画は10月30日に決定した。「林水未利用資源の高度利用技術の開発」の研究課題「未利用藻類の高度利用・培養型次世代水産業の創出」の代表研究者は、水産総合研究センター中央水産研究所の石原賢司主任研究員が務める。この研究課題の2014年度の所要経費は1億7000万円だ。

米Akebia Therapeutics社は2014年10月27日、透析を行っていない慢性腎疾患患者の貧血治療を対象とする低酸素誘導因子プロリル・ヒドロキシラーゼ（HIF-PH）阻害薬AKB-6548のフェーズIIbの良好なトップラインのデータを発表した。AKB-6548は、主要な評価指標をクリアした。AKB-6548は、概して良好な忍容性を示したほか、1日1回経口投与により、成功裏にヘモグロビンレベルを上昇させ、維持することが示された。
