日本代表が2対1でオーストラリアに快勝する以上の興奮を味わっています。18日から今日まで、東京のパレスホテルで開催された高松宮妃癌研究基金第45回国際シンポジウムは、癌治療において免疫療法が手術、放射線療法、化学療法、分子標的医薬に次いで、第5の柱として確立したことを知らしめる記念碑的なシンポジウムとなりました。招待した20数人の講演者総てが揃い、免疫チェックポイント阻害薬から、癌ワクチン、そして遺伝子改変したT細胞養子免疫療法まで、現在の抗癌免疫療法の最先端を開拓しつつあるパイオニアが全員顔を揃えるゴージャスなシンポジウムとなりました｡残念ながらこのシンポの記者会見には読売と日経BP社の2人しか参加しておらず、マスメディア上では全くこの静かな革命が無視された格好です。3日とも全部参加した私がショックを受けた事実を皆さんにお知らせいたします。例えば、来月にもノバルティスがわが国でCAR19の細胞療法の臨床試験を開始しますが、もっと驚いたのは、がんのドライバー遺伝子の究明→分子標的治療薬開発がもう時代遅れになりつつあることです。免疫ゲノム研究の進展により、がん治療に下克上が起こったのです。今やトライバ ...
