再生医療の審査・承認には、従来の医薬品や医療機器とは異なる規制が必要となる。ACTOではアジアの規制当局担当者が集まり、各国の規制の枠組みを紹介した。会場には欧米の参加者も目立ち、潜在市場であるアジアへの期待の高さをうかがわせた。

樹状細胞を用いた癌ワクチンとして初めて米食品医薬品局（FDA）に承認された「Provenge」を開発した米Dendreon社が、2014年11月12日に連邦倒産法第11章の適用を申請したと発表した。負債総額は6億2000万ドルに上る。

公益財団法人の日本健康・栄養食品協会（日健栄協、JHNFA）は2014年11月25日、ヤクルトホール（東京・港）でセミナー「食品の新たな機能性表示制度に向けて」を開催し、 定員550人の会場がほぼ満席になった。日健栄協は、2015年度から日本で導入される「食品の新たな機能性表示制度」（機能性表示食品の制度）で必要な届け出を支援する事業を開始する。セミナーの後半で下田智久理事長が「新たな機能性表示制度に係る届出支援体制について」と題した5分間の発表で概要を紹介し、次いで「協会による届出支援体制の説明」を、同協会学術情報部の宅見透部長や森戸暁久課長ら3人が発表し、最後に青山充事務局長が「支援に要する料金の考え方と各評価に要する期間」と題した説明を行った。
