第9回日本エピジェネティクス研究会年会が2015年5月25日から26日に学術総合センター一橋講堂（東京・千代田）で開催され、400人近くが参加した。国立遺伝学研究所の角谷徹仁教授が年会長を務め、テーマを「エピジェネティクスと遺伝学」に定めた。

厚生労働省は2015年5月28日、薬事・食品衛生審議会医薬品第二部会を開催した。部会では、ギリアド・サイエンシズの「ハーボニー配合錠」（レジパスビル・ソホスブビルの配合剤）やブリストル・マイヤーズの「ヤーボイ点滴静注液」（イピリムマブ）など、注目の新薬の承認が相次いで了承された。ただ、2製品については、出席委員の定則数が満たされず、議決が見送られた。

電源開発（J POWER）は2015年5月28日、北九州市の若松事業所内に設置した直径10mの円形池（面積80m2）で、燃料用油生産に適した海洋性珪藻ソラリス株の培養を開始した。J POWERは、新エネルギー・産業技術総合開発機構（NEDO）のプロジェクト「戦略的次世代バイオマスエネルギー利用技術開発」の委託研究に2013年度に採択され、2014年度に直径5mの円形池20個を用いて延べ307日の屋外安定培養を達成した。NEDOの受託研究は東京農工大学、日揮と共同で実施している。これに続き今回、培養面積を4倍にした施設で直径5mの場合と同じように10日間の回分培養で飽和藻体濃度まで増やせることを実証する。直径5mの円形池で1年間を通じて屋外で安定培養できた成果は、東京海洋大学品川キャンパスで開催される第17回マリンバイオテクノロジー学会大会で2015年5月31日に、J POWER技術開発部若松研究所バイオ・環境技術研究グループの松本光史課長・主任研究員が発表する。
