米Sangamo Biosciences社は、第1世代のZinc Finger Nuclease(ZFN）を用いてエイズ患者から取り出した造血幹細胞のCCR5遺伝子を破壊。拡大培養して患者に戻すex vivoのゲノム編集療法の臨床試験を新たにスタートさせるほか、血友病B患者に対して、ZFNを用いて血液凝固第IX因子遺伝子を組み込むSB-FIX、ムコ多糖症（MPS）1型を対象にα-L-イズロニダーゼ（IDUA）遺伝子を組み込むSB-318などin vivoのゲノム編集療法の臨床試験を実施します。in vivoのゲノム療法はいずれも、アデノ随伴ウイルスベクターを使って、ZFNと治療用蛋白質遺伝子を肝臓に送達し、治療用遺伝子はアルブミン遺伝子座に発現させる戦略で、実施されれば世界初のin vivoのゲノム編集療法となります。

帝人は2016年5月6日、2016年3月期の決算および2017年3月期の業績見通しに関する説明会を開催した。それによると、2016年3月期の売上高は7909億円で0.6％の微増にとどまったが、営業利益は671億円で71.7％と大きく伸び、当期純利益も-81億円の赤字から311億円の黒字に転じた。
