ゲノム情報を活用したサービスを提供するために、ソニーやエムスリー、米 Illumina社が出資して設立したP5（ピーファイブ）は、癌の遺伝子解析結果や、関連する治験情報をレポートにまとめ、医師向けに提供するプラットフォームを構築した。2016年5月から「P5がんゲノムレポート」と名付けたサービスとして提供する。最初の実施施設として、岡山大学病院での導入を予定している。

欧米では、腸内菌叢を対象とした創薬研究を手掛けるベンチャー企業が多額の資金を集めたり、大手の製薬企業と提携を行うなど、創薬の新しい標的として注目を集めています。2015年1月に、米Vedanta Biosciences社が前臨床段階の腸内菌製剤VE202を、米Johnson & Johnson社傘下のJanssen Biotech社に総額2億4100万ドルで導出。2016年1月には、武田薬品工業が、腸内に存在する細菌や微生物などの腸内菌叢の解析や創薬研究を行うフランスEnterome Bioscience社と提携することを発表しました。Enterome社は、最近2016年4月20日に、ベンチャーキャピタルのファンドなどから1450万ユーロの資金を調達しています。

東京医科大学と工学院大学は、次世代の低侵襲治療・診断技術の開発で共同研究事業を開始する。リキッドバイオプシーによる診断システムや認知症早期診断、ロボット支援手術用器具の開発など、7つのテーマで共同研究を実施し、「3年以内に何らかの成果を出したい」（東京医科大学学長の鈴木衞氏）。2016年4月21日、東京都内で記者発表会を開いた。
