化学及血清療法研究所は、2016年5月6日、今後の運営体制に対する方針を発表した。同社は、販売する血液製剤を不正に製造していたため、厚生労働省から2016年1月18日から5月6日まで110日間の業務停止命令が出されていた。今回の方針は、行政処分が終了するのを受けたもの。

今回は、血中酸素測定（センシング）技術を取り上げる。同技術に関しては、特許検索によって310件を抽出。精読の結果、解析対象特許として264件を得た。以下では、時系列で見た概要を示そう。

2015年12月、東京大学の片岡一則教授らの開発したドラッグ・デリバリー・システム（DDS）技術を用いた新たなベンチャー、アキュルナ（東京・文京、渡邉温子社長）が設立された。片岡教授のDDS技術を用いた企業には、既にシスプラチンなどを用いて新規の抗がん剤の開発を手がけるナノキャリアがあるが、アキュルナは核酸医薬のDDSに特化することで差別化する。3月にはナノキャリアから核酸医薬のDDSに関する知的財産の、独占的実施許諾契約を締結した。2016年4月27日に渡邉社長と田中大士、安西智宏両取締役（安西氏はアキュルナに出資するファストトラックイニシアティブの取締役でもある）にアキュルナの事業について話を聞いた。
