膵臓癌は癌の中でも非常にたちが悪い癌です。早期発見が難しく、発見時には手術もできず手遅れというケースが珍しくありません。さらに幸運にも手術ができても再発頻度が高いというやっかいな癌です。ほかの癌の治療成績がここ10年、右肩上がりに上昇しているにも関わらず、１つだけまったく進歩の様子が見られない癌が膵臓癌です。 　膵臓癌の治療医が集まる日本膵臓学会の年次総会でも公然と「暗黒の癌」と表現されています。ある高名な先生は膵臓癌をロシアンルーレットに例えて警鐘を鳴らしていました。

オンコリスバイオファーマは2016年5月31日、米LBR Regulatory and Clinical Consulting Services社と抗HIV薬候補「OBP-601（センサブジン）」について、オプション契約を締結すると発表した。LBR社は製薬企業ではなく、医薬品開発業務受託機関（CRO）などを手掛ける会社で、OBP-601に関する米食品医薬品局（FDA）との交渉などを代行する。金銭の授受は発生しない。
