厚生労働省の中央社会保険医療協議会(中医協)は2016年7月27日、医療費高騰の一因となっている高額薬剤への対応策について議論した。市場が想定以上に拡大した高額な新薬に対応できるよう薬価制度を抜本的に見直すこと、承認された用法・用量などの範囲で画期的な新薬が適切に使用される環境の整備を目的に「最適使用推進ガイドライン」を策定することを決めた。
