米食品医薬品局（FDA）は2016年8月26日、米国の全ての州と米領で献血された全血、および血液成分のジカウイルス検査を実施するよう勧告した。感染確認、非確認地域別に分けていたこれまでの対応を見直し、検査を全米に適用する。感染の起源と範囲には依然として不確定要素が多いものの、感染拡大に対する安全対策を強化し、輸血を必要とする人に安全な血液を提供する体制を整えるとしている。

日本イーライリリーは、2016年8月31日に薬価収載予定だった乾癬治療薬「トルツ皮下注」について、収載希望を取り下げたことが明らかになった。取り下げ日については「答えられない」（広報担当者）という。トルツは2016年8月24日の中央社会保険医療協議会（中医協）で薬価収載が了承されたが、同効でトルツよりも薬価の低いルミセフやコセンティクスを優先して使用する通知が出される方針が示されていた。
