2016年6月7日から9日まで福岡国際会議場で開催された第16回日本蛋白質科学会年会には800人が参加した。2日目の6月7日の午前中には「若手奨励賞シンポジウム」がメインホールで開催され、事前の書面審査で24人から選ばれた6人が、招待講演を行った。「研究内容」と「発表の明瞭さ」の評価を基に若手奨励賞優秀賞の3人が選ばれ、6月7日夜の懇親会で表彰された。

米Sarepta Therapeutics社は2016年6月6日、米食品医薬品局(FDA)に、デュシェンヌ型筋ジストロフィー（DMD）を対象としたeteplirsen (PROMOVI)を投与した患者の生検サンプルのデータを承認申請(NDA)審査の一環として提出するよう要求されたと発表した。同社は、FDAによるNDAの迅速な審査を求めて、数週間のうちに、13人の患者の臨床試験の開始前および開始48週目の生検サンプルのデータを提出する予定である。
