米Biogen社が8月31日に出したプレスリリースは、テレビニュースがトップで伝えるほどの反響を呼びました。同社が開発中の抗アミロイドβ抗体aducanumabを前駆期及び軽度のアルツハイマー病（AD）患者（n=165）に投与したフェーズIbの結果がnature誌に論文発表されたというものでした。抗体を投与された患者ではアミロイド斑が減少し、認知機能の低下を抑制できました。 　この結果は、既に1年前にフランスで開催された「アルハイマー病とパーキンソン病国際会議」で報告されていました。「専門家にとっては新しい話ではないが、natureに載ったというインパクトは大きい」というのは日本の研究者の弁。ともあれnature誌が論文掲載の価値ありと判断した画期的な研究であることは確かです。
