英Adaptimmune社は2016年8月3日、癌抗原NY-ESO標的T細胞療法「SPEAR」（Specific Peptide Enhanced Affinity Receptor）の粘液型円形細胞脂肪肉腫（MRCLS）を対象とする大規模臨床試験について、米食品医薬品局（FDA）から部分差し止め通告を受けたと発表した。現在、本試験の患者登録を開始している試験機関は無い。

資生堂は、同社初の機能性表示食品「飲む肌ケア」の発売を、2016年9月21日から開始する。機能性関与成分は蒟蒻由来グルコシルセラミド。この成分には「顔やからだ（頬、背中、ひじ、足の甲）の肌の水分を逃がしにくくすることが報告されており、肌の乾燥が気になるかたに適している」旨の機能性食品表示を行う。2016年3月18日に消費者庁に届け出た（届出番号：A278）。届け出書類に記載していた販売開始予定日「2016年9月21日」通りに、発売する。
