米InVivo Therapeutics Holdings社は2016年8月17日、生分解性デバイス「Neuro-Spinal Scaffold」の完全脊髄損傷患者を対象とするフェーズIII試験（INSPIRE、NCT02138110）で、米国脊髄損傷協会（AIS）が定める神経学・機能分類で完全損傷を示すグレードAから不完全損傷を示すグレードBに改善した患者が、治療2カ月から3カ月後の評価で5例目に達したと発表した。
