Gamida Cell社、臍帯血由来幹細胞医薬がFDAから画期的治療薬に指定  from 日経バイオテクONLINE  (2016-10-17 0:00)

癌と遺伝性の希少疾患に対する細胞医薬と免疫治療を開発しているイスラエルGamida Cell社は、2016年10月11日、米食品医薬品局（FDA）が同社の「NiCord」を画期的治療薬に指定したと発表した。NiCordは、1ユニットの臍帯血に同社専有のNAM（ニコチンアミド=ビタミンB3）技術を適用して、幹細胞を増殖させた細胞医薬だ。NAM技術を用いて増殖させた細胞は、in vivo注入後の機能が高いことが示されている。

2016年10月12日、BioJapan2016で先端医療振興財団の本庶佑理事長は「免疫学の復権」と題する基調講演を行い、PD1遺伝子の同定から、その機能を解明し、それに対する抗体医薬であるニボルマブを創出するに至るまでの経緯などを説明するとともに、「感染症を克服したことで免疫学は目的を果たしたと言われることもあったが、癌をはじめ免疫を制御することでコントロールできる疾患が増えてきた」などとして、免疫学の重要性を強調した。

FRONTEO（旧社名：UBIC）の子会社で、人工知能を用いた医療データ解析ソリューションを手掛けるFRONTEOヘルスケアは2016年10月6日、「がん個別化医療AIシステム」の開発を始めると発表した。プロジェクトチームを設け、共同創業者兼アドバイザリーボードメンバーとして中村祐輔氏（シカゴ大学 医学部内科・外科教授兼個別化医療センター副センター長）、醍醐弥太郎氏（東京大学医科学研究所 特任教授）、前佛均氏（国立がん研究センター研究所）の3氏を迎える。がん研究会とも、本件の共同研究に関する協議を開始するための契約を締結した。
