大阪大学産業科学研究所の永井健治教授らは、酵素活性の高い化学発光蛋白質ルシフェラーゼと、5種類の異なる蛍光蛋白質をハイブリッド化することにより、2012年と2015年に報告した化学発光蛋白質ナノ・ランタンに比べ、明るさが2倍から10倍の化学発光蛋白質を開発し、増強型ナノ・ランタンと名付けた。5色を揃えて細胞内の5つの微細な構造の同時計測を実現し、1個単位の蛋白質分子の結合・解離を化学発光で検出することに初めて成功した成果などを、Nature Communications誌にて2016年12月14日に発表した。「大阪大の専売特許ともいえる1分子測定を、新開発の化学発光蛋白質により長時間行える可能性を原理的に示せた」と永井教授は話した。
