Axial社、腸内細菌叢を利用した中枢神経疾患治療戦略に着手  from 日経バイオテクONLINE  (2016-12-8 0:00)

米Axial Biotherapeutics社は2016年11月30日、腸内細菌叢を活用する研究開発を強化するため、1915万ドルのシリーズA資金調達を行ったと発表した。米国California Institute of Technology（Caltech）のSarkis Mazmanian教授らが独自に開発した中枢神経系（CNS）バイオ医薬のライセンスを獲得し、腸と脳を結ぶ経路を標的とするマイクロバイオームの創薬基盤を構築する。同社は、CNS領域の治療パイプラインを拡充するチャンスとして期待している。

第一三共は2016年12月6日、MDM2（murine double minute）阻害薬DS-3032の急性骨髄性白血病（AML）、および骨髄異形成症候群（MDS）患者を対象とするフェーズI（NCT02319369）の増量パート中間解析結果が、第58回米国血液学会（ASH）で報告されたと発表した。最大耐用量の決定に至り、今後は他剤併用療法も視野に臨床開発を進める。

皆さま、おはようございます。日経バイオテクの高橋厚妃です。先日、大阪大学医学系研究科附属オートファジーセンターの吉森保センター長に取材をさせて頂きました。吉森センター長といえば、ノーベル生理学・医学賞の受賞が決まっている東京工業大学の大隅良典栄誉教授の片腕として、オートファジーを研究してきた方です。大隅栄誉教授は、酵母を対象にオートファジーの仕組みを解明してきましたが、吉森センター長は、動物細胞を対象とした研究を専門としています。その吉森センター長に、オートファジーを標的とした創薬や、化粧品の開発、機能性食品の開発などの可能性についてお聞きすることができ、大変興味深かったです。

湧永製薬、熟成ニンニクサプリ「Kyolic」を日本で新発売  from 日経バイオテクONLINE  (2016-12-7 6:00)

湧永製薬（大阪市淀川区）は、熟成ニンニク抽出液（AGE）を配合した健康補助食品「キョーリック/Kyolic」を2017年1月から新発売する。2016年12月6日に湧永寛仁社長が発表した。Kyolicは、同社の米国子会社Wakunaga of America社（1972年設立）が米国で20数商品のサプリメントを販売するなど、海外で展開しているブランド。年20億から30億円規模と推定されている米国のニンニクサプリメント市場で6割の市場占有率（シェア）を持ち、知名度は高い。現在も年率5％前後、米国での売上高を増やしている。発表会では、元メジャーリーガーの長谷川滋利氏が「米国におけるスポーツ選手の健康管理とサプリメント」と題した講演を行った。長谷川氏は2016年11月、オリックス野球クラブ（大阪市西区）のオリックス・バファローズシニアアドバイザーに着任した。
