米Eagle Pharmaceuticals社は2017年1月23日、米食品医薬品局（FDA）に対し労作性熱中症（EHS）を適応症とする注射剤「Ryanodex」（dantrolene sodium）の新薬承認申請（NDA）を行ったと発表した。承認済み医薬品の内容変更に該当するため、FDA法505条（b）（2）に基づく簡略申請としてNDAを完了し、処方箋薬ユーザーフィー法（PDUFA）に基づく審査期限は2017年7月とされた。

法改正以来、再生医療で我が国には熱いブームが起こっておりますが、ここは冷静にならなくてはなりません。なぜなら、現在、旧薬事法と改正薬事法(薬機法)によって、「ジェイス」、「ジャック」、「テムセル」、「ハートシート」の4種類の再生医療製品が我が国で実用化されていますが、製造メーカーに聞くと、高薬価にも関わらず、いずれも渋い顔です。実際に赤字に悩んでいました。「ジャック」を除いて、短期的には利益を確保し投資を回収するめどさえ立っていないのが現実です。革新技術だからしょうがないという声も聴かれますが、市場が拡大すれば利益が上がるというビールのようなビジネスモデルはまだ再生医療には到底当てはまりません。その最大の理由は、工業的な製造技術の確立がまだできていないことです。ロート製薬が再生医療に参入、商業化を目指した製造技術革新を進めています。2017年1月20日、ロート製薬のリサーチビレッジで披露された我が国初の「自動細胞培養・保管システム」に、再生医療赤字垂れ流し解消のつぼを探りました。
