米Pennsylvania大学などが進めてきたテストステロントライアル（T試験）の結果は、テストステロン低値の高齢者に対する1年間のテストステロン補充療法は、骨密度を上昇させ貧血を改善するが、冠動脈のアテローム斑の容積を増やすことを示した。また、テストステロン補充療法は認知機能には影響を及ぼさなかった。詳細は、JAMA Intern Med誌電子版に2本、JAMA誌電子版に2本の論文として、いずれも2017年2月21日に報告された。
